Lesley Esters Redwine
Lesley Esters Redwine currently serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LER Consultants and Advisors where she supports various clients in both the nonprofit and education sectors in executive search, school start-up, charter application, renewal and authorizer relations, governance planning, school quality reviews and organizational planning and strategy. In 2015, Lesley launched InspirED, a 501c3 charter management organization. Prior to InspirED, Ms. Redwine was recruited to return to her hometown in Detroit to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of New Urban Learning which managed K-12 schools including University YES Academy and University Prep Schools. Prior to joining New Urban Learning, Ms. Redwine served as the Vice-President of External Relations at Achievement First, a high-performing charter management organization that grew from three to 20+ schools during her tenure. Ms. Redwine has served as the President and CEO of the New York Chapter of the Black Alliance for Educational Opportunities, Project Director for Agenda for Children Tomorrow, Policy Analyst at the Afterschool Corporation, and as Special Assistant to a member of the New York City Board of Education. Ms. Redwine has served as an adjunct professor in nonprofit management at City College in New York City. Ms. Redwine is also an attorney and formerly worked at Lewis & Munday, P.C. and in a private criminal defense practice. Ms. Redwine is a proud graduate of, and also spent time teaching in the former Detroit Public Schools system.
In 2000, Ms. Redwine was selected as a National Urban Fellow and subsequently participated in America’s Leadership for Change Fellowship. She has been awarded Crain Communication’s 40 Under 40 Award, participated in the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Detroit XXXIV class. Ms. Redwine was selected to participate in the founding cohort of the Charter Network Accelerator. Ms. Redwine serves on the advisory board and is also an adjunct law professor at Detroit Mercy Law specializing in Law and Education. Ms. Redwine is a member of Lambda Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and served as Foundation Chair in the Oakland County Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc.
Ms. Redwine recently completed three courses in the Certificate for School Management and Leadership with Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School. Ms. Redwine earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan, J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy, M.P.A. from the Baruch College’s School of Public Affairs. Ms. Redwine is licensed to practice law in New York and also and is certified K-12 administrator in the State of Michigan. Ms. Redwine’s greatest joy is her family.
